A history of winning for the Teamwoodspeed Ka

Rebuilding such a famous rally car has unearthed some fascinating history.

Progressing through the Ford Ka Rally Championship from 1999 to 2002, S 625 TJN (as it was then) took on a few forms as it sampled the high life of a major National Rally Championship at the hands of Simon Mauger and Rob Chalmers.

The car won the Ford Ka Rally Championship outright in 1999 with Simon behind the wheel. Simon then progressed to test a WRC Focus alongside Colin McRae, and can now be found lighting up the rear wheels on a Mk2 Escort on the UK rally scene. Subsequently, Rob Chalmers piloted the Rally Ka to many victories during the following years before the car was exported to the Isle of Man, where it won its class on the 2006 RBS Manx International Rally. This accolade came after a string of other impressive results on the ‘Island of Rally’.

When in the Isle of Man, the car wore the registration plate 1290 MN. After a recent successful re-registration back in the UK, this famous little rally car is now identified by registration mark S 395 XAT.
