Paul Woodford will contest the Harold Palin Memorial Rally at Manby Showground, near Louth next Saturday 3rd October.
Joining Paul in the hot seat is a familiar face if you’re ‘up to speed’ (see what we did there?) on the goings on in the team. Tom Hutchings will make his co-driving debut alongside Paul in Mike’s absence for this event.
Paul said “Due to other commitments, namely the Cambrian Rally in October, we hadn’t planned to do another event in 2009, but as the car’s ready and we missed out on the event at Fulbeck recently due to cancellation, it seemed to make sense! Manby is supposed to be a great venue and Eastwood have a reputation for putting on a good rally so we're looking forward to getting back out”.
This will be the team’s first event at Manby, which is a well known UK rally venue and has seen some big names hit the stages in previous years. With a healthy entry, and an interesting line up in Class 1, Woodford and Hutchings will be looking for a strong finish, ahead of plans to contest the ANCC Tarmac Championship in 2010.
Paul’s rally plans have been put on the back burner for the past couple of months, with a busy TV presenting schedule, including Rally Day at Castle Combe this month when he was given the opportunity to interview rally superstars past and present.
This will be the Yorkshire based driver’s last event behind the wheel in 2009, with a guest co-drive for Tim Rodgers on the Cambrian Rally next month set to round up his competitive appearances for the season.
The Harold Palin Memorial Rally is being held on October the 3rd by Eastwood and District Motor Club. For more information on the rally, please visit the organising club’s website at www.eastwoodmotorclub.co.uk.
