New car and co-driver line-up for 2009
After selling the XR2 to concentrate on rallying, Paul has unveiled his new car, along with the announcement of his co-driver for 2009.
Paul’s brother Mike will be on the pace notes in an ex works Ford Ka Challenge rally car. The Woodford brothers will be partnering up on the stages for the first time in the car which won its class on the 2006 RBS Manx International Rally.
The car is a full works rally spec with international homologation. After some preparation work over the winter the pair will be competing in a selection of events designed to shakedown the car and give the lads chance to get to grips with working together inside the car.
Paul said “I’m really excited to have got my hands on a proper factory rally car, and it’s brilliant that Mike’s agreed to co-drive. He’s already nagging for us to get on with preparing the car ready for the first event!”
Local engine builder Ben Wilde will be working with Paul to rebuild the 1300 Challenge spec. engine in the Ka over the coming weeks, hopefully with winning results!
